2. Ephemeral Processing for Enhanced Security
When you use features like "Upload DOCX," your file is transmitted securely to our parsing engine to convert it into our editable web format.
We utilize an ephemeral processing model for these uploads. Once your document has been parsed and rendered into your browser editor, the original raw DOCX file is purged from our processing servers. We do not hoard your raw document files.
3. Client-Side Control & Local Backups
A unique aspect of PaperFormat.net’s architecture is how we handle project saves, giving you ultimate control.
While you work in the browser, your project state is maintained locally. We heavily emphasize the use of our JSON Export/Import feature for saving your work.
- When you save your project, you download a
.jsonfile to your local computer. - This means the master copy of your thesis resides on your hardware, not permanently on our cloud databases. You hold the keys to your data.

Whether you are uploading a file, editing in the browser, or downloading your final PDF, your data is secure.
