Stop Copy-Pasting: Import Your Entire Document
In Springer paper formatting and IEEE formatting, manually copying text, images, and captions from Word into a new template is tedious and prone to errors.
PaperFormat.net features an intelligent DOCX Importer. You can upload your existing research paper, and our engine will analyze the structure—identifying headings, images, and paragraphs—and automatically map them into the strict 2-column IEEE layout or the 1-column Springer LNCS layout.
Step-by-Step: Uploading Your File
Step 1: Access the Upload Tab
- Open the portal (either the IEEE or Springer version, depending on your target).
- Click the "Upload" tab in the top navigation bar (circled in green in the image).
- This is the starting point for all new projects.
Step 2: Drag and Drop Your File
- Locate the large, dashed box labeled "Click or Drag .docx here".
- Action: Drag your
.docxfile from your computer and drop it into this box. Alternatively, click the box to open your file explorer and select the document. - Note: The system currently supports standard Microsoft Word (
.docx) files. Old.docfiles should be saved as.docxfirst.
Step 3: Template Support (Crucial for Accuracy)
- Notice the link highlighted in the image: "(Click here for template support)".
- Why check this? The auto-formatter works best if your Word doc follows a basic structure (e.g., using "Heading 1" for titles). Clicking this link provides a guide on how to clean up your Word doc before uploading to ensure 100% accurate conversion.
Step 4: Restore from Backup (Alternative)
- Below the DOCX upload area, there is a blue button: "Import Json Backup".
- Do not use this for Word files. This button is strictly for restoring a
.jsonbackup file you previously exported from PaperFormat.net.
What Happens After Upload?
Once the file is uploaded, the Auto-Format Engine kicks in:
- Headings: Detected and assigned to the correct hierarchy (H1, H2, H3).
- Images: Extracted and placed near their relevant text.
- Citations: Parsed and converted into the portal's citation management system.
- Layout: The content is immediately rendered into the IEEE (2-column) or Springer (1-column) view on the right-hand preview pane.
